  i have contributed a few posts over the last 24 hours, and keeping with the apparent tradition i guess i should introduce myself.

  i am an ex-dubite, after twenty years slaving for the organization.

  i decided to call it quits roughly only one year ago this month, after a spur of the moment decision never to go again.

  Finally sharing my story!

  for those who have not met me my name is michelle.

  (aka.mortons68)thank-you walter for the post earlyer last week for welcoming me.i have been wanting to do a post to introduce myself,but have not had the guts to tell my story.for one,i am very new to the computer , two, i was not sure about opening my life to complete strangers,and three ,my spelling and grammer is not that great at all.

  Great job once again Blondie. My stomach was wincing near the end.

  Gadget is right IMO. The WTS must feel like they are loosing their iron grip on the R&F. They need to remind us dubs that we are screaming, stupid, immature little brats making a rucess is the back seat. Children are meant to be seen, not heard in the WTS mind. Shut up and listen to your mommy!!!

  Received letter from wtbs re Vicki Boer

  i got 2 replies to my letters this morning.

  one was from my local mp saying he had passed my letter to another minister and the foreign and commonwealth office are investigating to see if its an appropriate issue to raise, and the other was from the wbts of britain.

  the letter reads as below, and i would appreciate your comments on it, and some good qoutes to include in a reply.. .

  just wondering why you choose not to use too many identifying facts about yourself on the boards?

  is it to protect yourself, or others?.

  for me, i have nothing to lose where the dubs are concerned, and initially my profile was pretty extensive.

  Is it Time For Watchtower Begging Again?

  alas, some expensive witness traditions have ended - like food service at assemblies or mailed subscriptions.. however, since 1996, the society has had a tradition of begging for money in the november watchtower.. i think they hope rich witnesses will think about re-balancing their portfolios or making changes before the end.

  of the taxable year in december.. .

  lawyers and new printing facilities ( to be on-line in 2005) cost a lot of money, so look for their appeal soon.. .

  Look to a future article in the wt. where only because brothers came to them wondering what pecentage they would suggest as an offering to Jehovah would tell them to look to the OT and let that be their guide.Of course this would only be a suggestion to the loyal jw and not tithing.

  I've Been Telling People Why I Don't Go To Meetings Anymore & It Feels Good

  lately, we've gotten together with my wife's family and their friends.

  my wife has brought up that we're no longer going to meetings and "practicing" the religion.

  i find it very refreshing to explain reasons why i do not support jehovah's witnesses, as a religion.

  Tell her that all of the programs on the WatchTower channel blow. You have been surfing around and have found much better channels elsewhere.

  Besides, that WatchTower channel had too many televised fund raisers and Infomercials. Always trying to get in your pocket and your head.

  Ya, I have told a select few that I finally realized that it's a cult and that I'm trying to escape w/my wife. The response I got?

  hello fellow screen junkies,.

  i have had a number of messages in recent days concerned about my posting style having changes in recent weeks.

  as you may note i have become a little more combative in my replies of late and have imbued a new sense of tenacity when dealing with certain issues.

  I've been on the board only for a short while, so this last thread appeared as pertinent and well thought out as any other posts you have made, any of which I have read, were enjoyed.

  Blanket statements have the difficulty of encompassing all of the exceptions.

  I have no doubt that there are many rotten people and elders in the organization. I've met a few myself.

  But to say that all JW's are bad people, well; that is just a flat out lie.

  IMHO, anyone that would make such a blanket statement is either ignorant or has a [thinly veiled] hidden agenda to make their biases an accepted fact in everyone else's lives.

  I've had many elders & R&F make sacrifices that could never have been counted on a time card, or that would have been as visible as an underlined WatchTower in a Sunday meeting, or that would be as self-promoting as having their name announced as a Reg Pio.

  They just did it because they were good people. I would wager that the majority of the above noted people that have touched me would have never even thought that their actions would somehow aid in them escaping the 'Big A'.

  Of the positive experiences that I have had in the Troof, none of then will ever erase the negative things that I have been subjected to because of the Borg. Nor can it ever take away the pain the I have been through, or of others who have suffered much worse, such as molestation, because of the WTS.

  And the point that Alan makes should be given some thought.

  If we make blanket statements about the WTS and the people within, JW's looking to escape and then finding this site will be more apt to open their minds if they see the truth being plainly spoken. People looking to escape will have their bullshit alarms go off if they read all encompassing statements of hate here as the WTS also practices. It did for me when visiting other sites. When I came here and saw the truth being plainly discussed, it struck a chord in my heart.

  I find myself though guilty of this very action that i just condemned. It's hard at times not to take part in such tribal mentality infused bashing. i even can be the instigator at times.

  So thank you HS for the balanced viewpoint. I didn't note a change in your posting manner because they generally seem balanced, forthright and on the mark to me.
